Jon Rahm is preparing to leave LIV Golf and rejoin the PGA Tour, a move that follows months of speculation regarding his career path. The Spanish golfer was initially offered a return deal in January alongside Brooks Koepka but declined at that time because he remained bound by a multi-year contract with LIV.

The landscape has shifted since early 2026 due to LIV Golf losing its Saudi funding and canceling its team finale. Reports indicate the organization cannot fulfill the full terms of Rahm’s 2023 agreement, effectively freeing him to negotiate a return to the PGA Tour.

Rahm has reportedly agreed to a financial structure that requires him to donate $25 million to charity, a significantly higher figure than the $5 million Koepka paid earlier this year.

Despite the steep upfront cost, Rahm’s earnings during his final season with LIV appear sufficient to cover the donation. He secured the individual championship for the third consecutive year, maintaining a perfect record in the title since joining the tour. This victory earned him an additional $6 million on top of over $18 million in tournament prize money.

When combined with his existing salary from the original $350 million LIV contract, Rahm’s total compensation for 2026 is projected to exceed the charitable payment and more. Financial analysis suggests that by rejecting the earlier Koepka deal offered to him, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith, Rahm positioned himself to benefit economically from his eventual return.

While the path back to the PGA Tour involved complex contractual hurdles, the financial outcome for Rahm appears favorable given his recent performance on LIV. Details regarding the specific dates of his first PGA Tour events remain not yet clear.

PGA TOUR employs about 964 people in Nocatee, according to local government records.
