Riley adds separation
Riley’s two-run homer to left center in the seventh inning changed a one-run game into a 3-0 Atlanta lead, and the Atlanta Braves went on to beat the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
The drive traveled 433 feet and brought in Thomas after Atlanta had protected a 1-0 edge for several innings. It was one of two home runs in the game for the Braves, who scored once in the second inning, twice in the seventh and once in the eighth.
Albies opens the scoring
Atlanta took the lead in the bottom of the second when Albies homered to right, a 397-foot shot that made it 1-0. That remained the score through the sixth inning as Grant Holmes and Ryan Gusto each completed six innings.
Holmes earned the win, improving to 7-4, after allowing five hits with no earned runs, one walk and five strikeouts over six innings. Gusto took the loss, falling to 0-3, after giving up five hits and one earned run with no walks and five strikeouts in six innings.
Braves build the lead
After Riley’s homer in the seventh made it 3-0, Atlanta added another run in the bottom of the eighth. Acuña Jr. scored on a wild pitch by Victor Vodnik, while Harris II moved to second and Olson moved to third on the same wild pitch. That pushed the Braves’ lead to 4-0.
