Wide receiver Chris Godwin did not play in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' first preseason game, which resulted in a 24-16 victory over the New York Jets.

The Buccaneers opted to rest most of their starters during this initial contest, making Godwin's absence a non-issue. As the team prepares for the 2026 season, Godwin is anticipated to play a significant role in the wide receiver lineup, especially with the departure of Mike Evans, who has been absent from the team for the first time since 2013.

Godwin will be joined by Emeka Egbuka, who is currently dealing with a toe injury, in leading the Buccaneers' receiving corps. Additionally, Jalen McMillan, recovering from a knee issue, and tight end Cade Otton are expected to receive ample playing time as well.
