Nocatee, Florida — State authorities have awarded in excess of $10 million in recruitment incentives to over 1,500 recently hired police officers, sheriff's deputies, and state troopers across Florida, state officials announced.
The disbursement was executed under the Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program, which supplies a one-time, after-tax incentive of $5,000 to newly employed sworn personnel. Since the statutory framework was enacted four years ago, approximately 12,500 incoming officers throughout the state have received incentive payments amounting to more than $83 million.
The latest incentive awards complement broader legislative budget commitments enacted for the current fiscal cycle, including $19.8 million dedicated to sworn state officer salary increases and $20 million reserved to replenish the recruitment fund. Prior budget cycles established a $60,000 minimum base compensation floor for state personnel alongside expanded academy scholarships and professional wellness programs.
