Braves turn early rally, Elder’s seven innings into 4-1 win over Marlins

Braves break through

The Braves created the decisive separation in the second inning, using a ground rule double from Riley and a two-run single from Baldwin to build a 3-0 lead in a 4-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Truist Park.

Riley’s ground rule double scored Albies and moved Dubón to third for the game’s first run. Baldwin followed with a single to center that brought in Dubón and Riley, giving Atlanta three runs in the inning. The Braves added another run in the third when Dubón singled to right and scored Harris II for a 4-0 lead.

There were no home runs in the game.

Elder sets the pace

Bryce Elder gave Atlanta a long outing and earned the win, improving to 8-6. He pitched 7.0 innings, allowing one hit, one earned run and two walks while striking out three.

Miami’s only run came in the fifth. Mack grounded out to second, scoring Caissie and moving Marsee to third, cutting Atlanta’s lead to 4-1.

Eury Perez took the loss for Miami and fell to 5-9. He worked 5.0 innings, giving up seven hits, four earned runs and two walks with nine strikeouts.

Bullpens close it out

Calvin Faucher followed for Miami with 1.0 inning, allowing two hits and no earned runs with no walks and three strikeouts. Cade Gibson pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts. Josh Ekness added 1.0 inning, allowing one hit with no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts.

For Atlanta, Dylan Dodd earned his ninth hold after 0.2 innings, allowing two hits with no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Didier Fuentes recorded his second save with 1.1 innings, no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts.

Records

The Braves improved to 69-45 with the win. The Marlins dropped to 58-57. Attendance was 25,136.
