Spencer Calvert, a Nocatee home builder, pleaded guilty to 45 felony counts including fraud and theft after a previous plea agreement collapsed due to victim objections. The 54-year-old owner of Pineapple Corp. admitted to accepting payments for St. Johns County homes between 2019 and 2023 while leaving the projects unfinished.
Under the new agreement, Calvert must pay $8,722,659 in restitution to his victims. The sentence includes up to five years in prison followed by 30 years of probation, with the possibility of early termination if the full restitution amount is paid. A minimum monthly payment schedule will be established at his July 14 sentencing.
Investigators found that Calvert collected upfront deposits but failed to pay subcontractors, resulting in liens against the victims' properties. Fifteen victims, including reality television personality Capt. Sandy Yawn, cooperated with the case. Some homes in the Vista at Twenty Mile neighborhood were abandoned with only foundations, while others had roofs but remained incomplete.
