The Florida Gators are preparing for their upcoming game against Campbell with uncertainty surrounding key wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., who is doubtful due to an ankle injury sustained early in the game against FAU.
Gators offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner expressed concern about Singleton's injury, noting the hard work he put in during the offseason and his eagerness to return to play. "There's probably not anybody as sick as I was in the stadium when he went down," Faulkner said, highlighting the impact of Singleton's absence.
In Singleton's potential absence, other wide receivers have shown their capability to contribute. Bailey Stockton, a former Georgia Tech player, made a notable impact during the FAU game, scoring a 12-yard touchdown after catching a pass from quarterback Philo. Stockton, who has 38 career receptions for 438 yards, is expected to be a reliable option for the Gators.
Stockton emphasized the importance of blocking in the passing game, stating, "You can create explosive plays as well by not having the ball in your hands." His ability to block effectively adds another dimension to his contributions on the field.
Additionally, TJ Abrams also made a significant play with a catch that set up a touchdown run for Philo. Running back Duke Clark, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown, also demonstrated his versatility by catching a 10-yard touchdown pass.
