The statewide average in Florida stands at $3.7930, while the national average is $3.8670. Motorists in the Jacksonville area are paying more than the state average and less than the national average.
Gas prices in the Jacksonville area have fallen substantially from their highs. Prices have dropped about 42 cents over the past month, driven by lower crude oil costs and strong refinery output. Compared to a year ago, when the state average was $2.9730, drivers are now paying about 82 cents more per gallon.
