Turning Point in the Fourth

The decisive shift in the game occurred during the fourth inning when the Miami Marlins mounted a two-run rally to take the lead. J.J. Marsee drove the game-winning run with a home run to right field that traveled 379 feet.

This extended Miami's advantage to 4-1, setting the tone for the rest of the contest. The Nationals had initially taken a 3-0 lead, but the Marlins' offensive surge in the middle innings proved difficult to overcome.

Scoring Sequence

Washington struck first in the top of the first inning. Michael Conine and Brandon Caissie both scored on a single by Luis Lopez to right field, giving the visitors an early 2-0 cushion. The Nationals added a third run in the second inning when Luis Hernández connected with a home run to left field that went 393 feet.

Miami began its comeback in the bottom of the fourth when Juan Soto reached on an infield single and scored on an error by shortstop Lopez. Marsee's homer followed immediately to break the tie and give the home team the lead.

In the fifth inning, the Nationals scored their final run when Jace Crews doubled to center field and scored on a throw, but the Marlins held on to secure the victory.

Pitching Performance

Eury Perez earned the win for Miami, pitching five innings while allowing three hits and one run. He walked three batters and struck out four. Michael Petersen recorded the save, tossing one scoreless inning with one strikeout.

The Marlins' bullpen provided support from Josh Ekness and Tyler Zuber, both of whom retired all batters faced without allowing runs or walks. Jake Irvin took the loss for Washington after starting the game. He pitched six innings, allowing six hits and four runs on two walks, while striking out four batters.

Erik Tolman and Jake Bird pitched the final two innings for the Nationals, with Bird allowing no hits or runs in his frame of work. The game drew a crowd of 18,473 fans at loanDepot park.

Final Standings

The Miami Marlins improve their record to 66-64 following the win. The Washington Nationals fall to 61-70. Both teams continue their regular-season schedules with no playoff implications stated in the official game summary. The Marlins' home advantage was evident in the fourth-inning rally that ultimately decided the outcome.
