Jacksonville Beach is about 14 miles north of Nocatee.
Lifeguards in Jacksonville Beach have issued safety reminders for holiday visitors as red flags are posted along the shoreline. The warnings alert swimmers to strong currents that can change without notice. Conditions are expected to remain choppy with powerful shore breaks due to incoming swells.
Ervanian, a lifeguard official, noted that conditions require close monitoring. He stated that if winds decrease or ocean conditions shift, the flag status will be updated. Changes will be communicated to beachgoers through online channels. The lifeguards emphasized three primary safety steps for anyone entering the water: check the current flag conditions, swim near a lifeguard station, and keep children within arm's reach at all times.
The beach has attracted a mix of visitors and residents ahead of the Fourth of July. Ian Tyler, a student from the Gulf Coast visiting for a summer internship, described the Atlantic side as a chill community environment, contrasting it with the Gulf. His sister, Emma Tyler, traveled to the area to visit him and experience the holiday at the beach for the first time.
Local residents are also preparing for the holiday. Charles Hamilton brought his son and grandchildren to the beach. His grandson, Hamilton Wilkes, shared plans to launch fireworks with neighbors simultaneously. Hamilton summarized his family's approach to the heat, which is nearing triple digits, as using ample sunscreen and shade while closely supervising children.
