Nocatee, Fla. — The Florida Department of Education released school grades from the 2025-2026 school year this week, reporting that 77 percent of all graded schools in the state earned an A or B in 2026, up from 71 percent in 2025.
Nocatee, a St. Johns County community of about 40,000 residents, lies in Northeast Florida roughly 20 miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville.
The grades, ranging from A to F, reflect how well each school is serving its students, according to the state education department. The grading system takes several components into account, including graduation rates, student performance on standardized tests and end-of-course assessments.
About 2 percent of Florida schools received a D or F in 2025, and of those 60 schools, 88 percent improved their grades in 2026, state officials said. One school that received an F improved to an A grade the following year, according to the department.
The number of D and F schools has declined 86 percent since 2023, which was the first year comprehensive progress monitoring was implemented, the department said.
The state education department also assigns grades to school districts, calculating each district's grade as if its students are enrolled in one large combination school. For the 2025-2026 school year, 57 districts received an A or B, and no districts received a D or F, officials said.
