Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced that wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, the team's first-round draft pick in 2025, is currently listed as "day-to-day, week-to-week" due to a toe sprain sustained during joint practices with the New York Jets. Bowles indicated uncertainty regarding Egbuka's availability for the upcoming Week 1 matchup.
With Mike Evans now playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Egbuka is expected to receive a significant number of targets this season, primarily lining up as a Z receiver.
Bowles also mentioned that wide receiver Jalen McMillan is dealing with a "banged up knee" and has missed nearly two weeks of practice, placing him in a similar day-to-day status. On a more positive note, All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs returned to practice for the first time since suffering a hamstring strain during the team's conditioning test at the start of camp.
Bowles stated that they are gradually increasing Wirfs' workload this week.
Cornerback Benjamin Morrison, who has been sidelined since the beginning of training camp due to a hamstring injury, is reportedly making progress and participated in positional work last week. Bowles said a decision on Morrison's potential participation in Saturday's game will be made based on his progress this week.
