The Miami Dolphins have announced the release of cornerback Nick McCloud as part of their roster adjustments during the ongoing preseason. This decision was reported by Sun Sentinel journalist David Furones on X, formerly Twitter, just hours before the Dolphins' second preseason game against the New York Giants.
McCloud, 28, joined the Dolphins after a career that began with the New York Giants in 2022. He has also played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears, accumulating experience across four seasons in the NFL. Throughout his career, McCloud has participated in 61 games, recording 123 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one interception, and 12 passes defended.
His release comes following a challenging joint practice with the Giants earlier this week. The Dolphins are set to face the Giants again on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, a game that will be broadcast on NFL Network.
As the preseason progresses and final roster cuts approach, the Dolphins are expected to continue evaluating their secondary and overall lineup before finalizing their 53-man roster for the upcoming season.
