Caminero's Power Display

Wander Franco Caminero delivered a pivotal offensive performance, recording two home runs to help the Tampa Bay Rays secure a 5-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Tropicana Field on Sunday. Caminero’s first long ball arrived in the fifth inning, a 463-foot shot to center field that extended Tampa Bay’s lead to 4-0. He added another home run later in the contest, contributing significantly to the Rays' offensive output.

The Rays established an early advantage in the first inning when Caminero singled to left field, allowing Díaz to score and moving Aranda to second base. The lead grew in the second inning when Mullins hit a 404-foot home run to right center. Díaz followed with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Walls to make it 3-0. Arizona finally broke through in the eighth inning when Marte homered to center, a 424-foot shot that made the final score 5-1.

Rasmussen's Dominant Start

Drew Rasmussen was the standout pitcher for Tampa Bay, delivering six innings of shutout baseball. He allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out five batters. His performance earned him the win, improving his record to 7-4. Rasmussen effectively neutralized the Diamondbacks' lineup, keeping the score at 0-3 through the early innings before Caminero's home run expanded the gap.

Diamondbacks Pitching Effort

Merrill Kelly started for Arizona but struggled with consistency, taking the loss after allowing five earned runs on eight hits over six innings. He also walked two batters and struck out three. The Diamondbacks' bullpen attempted to stabilize the game but could not prevent the deficit from growing. Jonathan Loaisiga pitched one scoreless inning with one strikeout, while Drey Jameson also threw one inning, allowing one hit and striking out one batter.

Rays Bullpen and Final Notes

Craig Kimbrel closed the game with a perfect inning, striking out one batter and allowing no hits or walks. Garrett Cleavinger and Trevor Martin each pitched one inning, with Cleavinger allowing one earned run on one hit and Martin allowing one hit without any runs. The Rays improved their record to 48-33, while the Diamondbacks fell to 41-42. The game drew an attendance of 17,195 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
