Northrop Grumman and Aeronix, Inc., a subsidiary of Aeronix Technologies Group, have established a multimillion-dollar strategic partnership. The joint effort is designed to accelerate the creation of advanced space-based cryptographic systems intended to protect classified data on defense platforms.
The collaboration expands upon a previous successful prototype developed by the two firms. That earlier project delivered a space-based mesh networking solution for the Department of War, focusing on secure and resilient data sharing within low-earth satellite orbit networks. The new initiative aims to build on this foundation by targeting a five-fold increase in the performance of secure data processing and transmission.
The primary focus of the partnership is the development of cryptographic applications that safeguard data at rest, in transit, and in use. The companies plan to jointly invest in and deploy specialized cryptographic devices to secure classified information within critical mission systems. A key component of the strategy involves using modular, open-architecture designs.
These designs are intended to allow for rapid adaptation to emerging threats through continuous technology refreshes and scalable integration into both existing and next-generation multi-domain systems.
Matt Verock, vice president and general manager of navigation, intelligence, and connectivity at Northrop Grumman, stated that mission success relies on keeping information secure and accessible against advanced threats. He noted that the partnership will accelerate the delivery of data security solutions to provide advantages to warfighters and customers.
