The PGA Tour is collaborating with the DP World Tour to develop a new global series of professional golf events. According to sources familiar with the discussions, the initiative could debut as early as 2028 and would reshape the current schedule for male professional golfers.

The proposed series is expected to run during the autumn and early winter months, filling a gap in the traditional calendar.

The unnamed series would likely include up to nine tournaments held in locations such as England, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and various countries in Continental Europe, including France, Spain, and Italy. Additional stops may be added in Australia, South Africa, and the Far East.

These events would remain sanctioned solely by the DP World Tour, similar to the structure of the Scottish Open, rather than being co-sanctioned with the PGA Tour.

Executives believe the new schedule would attract top American players, including Scottie Scheffler, by offering elevated prize funds, additional world ranking points, and increased global visibility. This opportunity aligns with the PGA Tour’s planned restructuring into two tiers starting in two years. The elite Championship Series, featuring the top 120 players, will operate from February to August to avoid conflicts with the NFL season.

Consequently, top-tier players will not be eligible for the lower Challenger Series during the off-season, making the new global series a primary option for maintaining competitive form between September and January.

The development poses a challenge for LIV Golf, which is currently seeking investors to secure its financial future after concluding its 2026 season. Greg Norman, the founding chief executive of LIV Golf, expressed disappointment regarding the league's trajectory. "I'm sad, disappointed, gutted to be honest," Norman said. "I hate to see it wither away. I would rather just see it end."

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour have also strengthened their partnership by signing a four-year agreement with Golf Australia to help stage the Australian Open. The PGA Tour has previously assisted the DP World Tour in securing sponsors, including FedEx for the French Open and Amgen for the Irish Open.

This collaboration builds on the strategic alliance formed in 2021, which provided financial stability to the DP World Tour during the ongoing tensions in professional golf.

PGA TOUR employs about 964 people in Nocatee, according to local government records.
