Gas prices in the Jacksonville area have fallen substantially from their highs. Prices have dropped about 33 cents over the past month, driven by lower crude oil costs and strong refinery output. Compared to a year ago, when the state average was $2.9440, drivers are now paying about 83 cents more per gallon.
