Late Rally Seals Win
Griffin Conine delivered the decisive blow in the ninth inning, singling to right field to score Hernández and lift the Miami Marlins to an 8-7 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. The win snapped Miami’s twelve-game losing streak, as the home team rallied from a deficit to secure the final tally at loanDepot Park on Monday.
Early Phillies Lead
Philadelphia established control early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Bryce Harper homered to center field, a 419-foot shot that also drove in Schwarber. The Marlins responded quickly, cutting the deficit to 2-1 when Lopez scored on a throwing error by Phillies shortstop Turner.
Miami tied the game at 2-2 later in the frame when Jesús Hernández homered to left field, a 388-foot blast.
The Phillies regained the lead in the second inning. Conine, playing for Miami, hit a home run to right center, 392 feet, making the score 2-3. However, Philadelphia answered with runs of their own. Marsee doubled to right, bringing Sanoja home for a 2-4 advantage. Lopez then tripled to right, scoring Marsee to extend the Phillies' lead to 2-5.
Marlins Take Control
Miami began chipping away at the deficit in the sixth inning. Bohm singled to center, allowing Harper to score, making it 3-5. Realmuto followed with a ground-rule double, scoring Bohm to bring the score to 4-5.
The Marlins turned the game around with a multi-run play in the same inning. Crawford singled to left, and despite an error on the play, Realmuto scored on a throwing error by left fielder Hernández. Crawford advanced to second on the same error, giving Miami a 6-5 lead.
