Turning Point in the Fourth

The Miami Marlins seized control of the contest in the fourth inning, breaking a 1-3 deficit with a four-run surge that shifted momentum decisively in their favor. After allowing two early runs to the Seattle Mariners, the home team rallied to take a 6-1 lead before the inning ended. This offensive explosion proved insurmountable for Seattle, who managed only two more runs over the final four innings to finish with 8-4.

Early Scoring and Defensive Errors

Seattle opened the scoring in the second inning when Naylor crossed the plate on a throwing error by Miami pitcher Janson Junk. Naylor scored again later in the frame on a second error by Junk, giving the Mariners an early 2-0 advantage. Miami responded immediately with a solo home run by Conine to right field, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Hicks added another run with a double to right that drove in Marsee, tying the game at 2-2 before the Mariners regained the lead.

The Marlins’ comeback began in the fourth. Hicks grounded into a fielder’s choice, but Marsee scored on a throwing error by shortstop Emerson after Miami challenged the call. Lopez then tripled to left field, bringing Jiménez and Hicks home to give Miami a 5-3 lead. Stowers singled to right to score Lopez, extending the margin to 6-3. Seattle answered in the fifth when Arozarena homered to center, making the score 6-4.

Late Inning Runs and Pitching Decisions

Miami added two more runs in the seventh. Marsee singled to right, allowing Conine to score. Ruiz reached third, and Jiménez grounded out to second, scoring Ruiz and moving Marsee to second. The Marlins’ lead grew in the eighth when Canzone homered to center, driving in Arozarena for a 8-4 final tally.

Janson Junk (4-5) earned the win for Miami, pitching five innings and allowing one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts. Lake Bachar (2.0 IP, 3 K) and Calvin Faucher (0.2 IP, save 11) closed out the game. Tyler Zuber pitched the ninth for his first save.

Seattle’s Bryce Miller (4-3) took the loss after five innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits. Michael Rucker and Cole Wilcox provided relief, combining for three innings of work.

The victory completes a three-game sweep for Miami, extending their winning streak to six games. The Marlins improve to 52-42, while Seattle falls to 47-47. The game was played at loanDepot Park with an attendance of 7,815.
