Turning Point in the Fourth
The Miami Marlins seized control of the contest in the fourth inning, breaking a 1-3 deficit with a four-run surge that shifted momentum decisively in their favor. After allowing two early runs to the Seattle Mariners, the home team rallied to take a 6-1 lead before the inning ended. This offensive explosion proved insurmountable for Seattle, who managed only two more runs over the final four innings to finish with 8-4.
Early Scoring and Defensive Errors
Seattle opened the scoring in the second inning when Naylor crossed the plate on a throwing error by Miami pitcher Janson Junk. Naylor scored again later in the frame on a second error by Junk, giving the Mariners an early 2-0 advantage. Miami responded immediately with a solo home run by Conine to right field, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Hicks added another run with a double to right that drove in Marsee, tying the game at 2-2 before the Mariners regained the lead.
The Marlins’ comeback began in the fourth. Hicks grounded into a fielder’s choice, but Marsee scored on a throwing error by shortstop Emerson after Miami challenged the call. Lopez then tripled to left field, bringing Jiménez and Hicks home to give Miami a 5-3 lead. Stowers singled to right to score Lopez, extending the margin to 6-3. Seattle answered in the fifth when Arozarena homered to center, making the score 6-4.
