Sixth-Inning Surge Defines Win
The Colorado Rockies overcame an early deficit to secure a decisive 14-4 victory over the Miami Marlins at Coors Field on Thursday. The game shifted dramatically in the sixth inning when Colorado erupted for seven runs, turning a tight contest into a blowout. Michael Lorenzen started for the Rockies, allowing four earned runs over 4.1 innings, but the offense provided ample support to secure the win.
Early Scoring and Tied Game
Miami Marlins took an early lead in the first inning. Edwards drove in Hicks via a fielder's choice, followed by Lopez scoring on a sacrifice fly by Caissie. The Rockies responded immediately as Moniak homered to right center, cutting the deficit. In the third inning, Edwards scored again on a sacrifice fly, but Castro’s single to center tied the game at 3-3 by driving in both McCarthy and Moniak.
Rockies Take Control
Colorado began to pull away in the fourth inning. Hicks grounded out to bring in Marsee, and McCarthy followed with a home run to right, scoring Julien and extending the lead to 5-3. The seventh-inning stretch did not occur as the Rockies continued their offensive production. In the eighth inning, Carrigg and Sullivan added two more runs, including a sacrifice fly and a single that brought Johnston home, making the final score 14-4.
