The game remained tight through the first seven innings, with both bullpens working to keep the deficit manageable. The Marlins had taken a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning on a double by Sanoja and a single by Mack, erasing an earlier 1-0 deficit.

Alvarez and Paredes Deliver
With the game tied 2-2 entering the eighth, Alvarez homered to left center, a 394-foot shot that also drove in Peña to give Houston a 4-2 lead. The momentum shifted completely as Paredes followed immediately with his own home run to left center, measuring 398 feet, extending the Astros' lead to 5-2.
These two homers accounted for three of the five runs Houston scored in the game. The other two runs came earlier, including a solo home run by Peña to left in the third inning and a run scored on a single by Mack in the fourth.
