Lile Shifts Momentum
Daylen Lile provided the decisive swing for the Washington Nationals, hitting two home runs to help secure a 6-3 victory over the Miami Marlins at Nationals Park. The game featured a pivotal shift in the fifth inning when Lile drove a 406-foot homer to left center, scoring Pinckney and giving Washington a 3-2 lead.
That momentum carried through the seventh, where Lile added a second blast to right field, extending the Nationals' advantage to 3-4 before Miami mounted a brief response.
Scoring Sequence
The visiting Marlins opened the scoring in the fourth inning. Hernández scored on a wild pitch from Luis Perales, putting Miami ahead 1-0. The advantage did not last long, as Stowers singled to center in the same frame, allowing Ramírez and Sanoja to score and tie the game at 1-1.
Washington then took the lead in the fifth with Lile’s first homer. Miami answered in the seventh when Chaparro singled to right and Ortiz scored on an error by right fielder Ruiz, making it 3-4. However, the Nationals struck again in the bottom of the seventh.
Lile’s second homer scored Nuñez, and House singled to right to bring Chaparro home, finalizing the 6-3 margin.
