Jabbar Muhammad had a mixed performance in the Jacksonville Jaguars' preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints, but ultimately made a game-winning play. After allowing an early touchdown due to a missed tackle, Muhammad rebounded by leading the team with six tackles, including one for a loss.
The decisive moment came during the game's final drive when Saints quarterback Hunter Dekkers targeted Muhammad's area. Although Muhammad initially faced a pass interference call, he redeemed himself by knocking down a pass intended for Barion Brown as time expired, securing a 24-20 victory for the Jaguars.
Following the game, Muhammad reflected on his performance, stating, "I can always be better, for sure. At the end of the day, it's not how you start, it's how you finish." His strong showing has bolstered his chances of making the Jaguars' 53-man roster after spending his rookie season on the practice squad.
Defensive end B.J. Green II expressed confidence in Muhammad's abilities, noting that he was not surprised by his performance. Green stated, "I knew Jabbar in college, so he's been like that. Everybody's just now noticing. I knew exactly what he was, what he was capable of."
Muhammad, who transferred to Oregon from Oklahoma State and Washington, had a standout season with the Ducks, earning All-Big Ten second-team honors and leading the conference in pass breakups. His training camp efforts have translated into on-field success, showcasing his skills against NFL talent.
