General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley are tasked with making these final cuts as the team approaches their preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons, scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.
Several key positions, including wide receiver, cornerback, defensive line/edge rusher, offensive line, and inside linebacker, have roster spots that remain uncertain. Coach Hafley noted that this period can be particularly stressful for players vying for their positions, emphasizing the importance of their efforts in securing a spot on the team.
Among the players competing for a receiver position are AJ Henning, Tutu Atwell, Terrace Marshall, and Ryan Miller. The Dolphins recently released Tahj Washington, potentially opening a spot for Henning or Miller, both of whom have shown promise during training camp.
In the cornerback category, Marco Wilson, Alex Austin, Miles Battle, and Jai'Onte' McMillan are in contention. With injuries sidelining Storm Duck and Darrell Baker, it is anticipated that two of these four players may make the final roster.
The defensive line will see competition among Max Llewellyn, Clelin Ferrell, Cameron Goode, Robert Beal, Keith Cooper Jr., and Matthew Butler, with possibly three securing a spot. Injuries to Ferrell and Goode could impact their chances, while Cooper Jr. has been noted for his strong performance in camp.
For the offensive line, Charlie Heck, D.J. Campbell, and Josh Priebe are in the mix, with the possibility of two making the team. The Dolphins may also seek to add additional offensive linemen after other teams finalize their cuts.
