The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are approaching the start of their 2026 season, with less than a week remaining before their kickoff. The team has faced challenges during training camp and preseason, including contract disputes and injury issues, as they gear up for the upcoming campaign.
On Monday, the Buccaneers shared important updates regarding players recovering from injuries. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan, along with tackle Justin Skule, participated in practice. However, running back Sean Tucker was not seen practicing.
This news is largely positive for Tampa Bay as they prepare for the new season. Egbuka, who has been dealing with a toe injury throughout the preseason, appears ready to contribute. He is expected to step into the role of the Buccaneers' number one wide receiver following the departure of franchise icon Mike Evans to the San Francisco 49ers.
Egbuka had a promising start to his rookie season last year but struggled later on. If he can maintain his health, he has the potential to improve significantly this year.
Additionally, quarterback Baker Mayfield is in a critical year, as he seeks to prove himself worthy of a long-term contract after failing to reach an extension agreement with the team before the season begins.
