The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to release quarterback Jake Browning as they finalize their initial 53-man roster. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels has secured the backup quarterback position behind Baker Mayfield after impressing during the preseason.
Browning, who joined the Buccaneers this offseason after five years with the Cincinnati Bengals, started three games last season when Joe Burrow was injured. However, the Bengals later acquired Joe Flacco to bolster their quarterback lineup, leading to Browning's current situation.
Daniels, who played six seasons at the University of Kansas, concluded the preseason with a performance where he completed 8 of 15 passes for 57 yards. With Connor Bazelak also departing the team, Daniels is now the only quarterback available to back up Mayfield as the season approaches.
