Travis Hunter's role at wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars has not been set ahead of the regular season. The team expects him to make a major contribution on defense, while continuing to use him on offense as well.
Coen said the Jaguars do not have a specific weekly target for Hunter's offensive snaps. His opportunities could depend on the opposing matchup and the circumstances of each game rather than a predetermined number of plays.
The Jaguars want to put Hunter in situations that fit his skills, Coen said. He noted that Hunter can contribute as a blocker and route runner even when a pass is not designed to go to him. Coen added, "He definitely will play both."
Most of Hunter's 11-on-11 work during training camp came on defense. He practiced almost exclusively on that side of the ball during the final week of camp.
Hunter's game against Cleveland will be his first since Week 7 of last season. The specific number of offensive snaps he will receive remains unclear.
