The Miami Dolphins have confirmed that they will rest several key players, including Malik Willis and De'Von Achane, in their preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons. This decision, reported by Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, means fans will not see the starters in action until the regular season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on September 13.
In addition to Willis, backup quarterback Quinn Ewers will also miss the game due to a groin injury. Ewers' absence raises concerns about his roster position, as he has not had the opportunity to showcase his skills in this final preseason matchup. Cam Miller will take the starting quarterback role for the Dolphins in Ewers' place.
During the preseason, Willis and the starting offense participated in only one drive, which resulted in a touchdown by Achane against the Washington Commanders. The Dolphins previously opted to rest their veteran starters in a game against the New York Giants.
As the Dolphins prepare for the upcoming NFL season, the focus will be on the battles for roster spots among the remaining players. The team is expected to continue updating fans on developments as they approach the start of the 2026 season.
