The Jacksonville Jaguars elevated former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens and linebacker Jalen McLeod from the practice squad to the active roster for their next game. The team announced the moves on Sept. 19 through a post on X, describing them as standard elevations.
Mullens, 31, is not expected to play against the Denver Broncos while Trevor Lawrence is healthy. The report did not provide further details about Mullens' role beyond his addition to the active roster.
Mullens entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent and spent three seasons with Minnesota from 2022 through 2024. He joined the Vikings after the team acquired him from the Las Vegas Raiders in August 2022. During his Minnesota tenure, he went 0-3 and completed 70.8% of his passes, totaling 1,568 yards, eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.
His career totals listed in the report are a 66% completion rate, 6,448 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. Besides the Vikings, Jaguars and Raiders, Mullens has spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.
The report also discussed Minnesota's quarterback situation. Starter Kyler Murray was sidelined by a concussion sustained in Week 1, leaving Carson Wentz as the starter and 2024 first-round selection J.J. McCarthy as the backup. Minnesota was set to face the Chicago Bears and quarterback Caleb Williams, the 2024 first overall pick, in Week 2.
