The Jaguars, who are currently 1-1 in the NFL Preseason, are looking to build on their successful offseason and last year's performance.
Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield acknowledged the intensity of the Jaguars' defense, stating, "They gave us some good looks and were playing with their hair on fire." He expressed that the Buccaneers were outmatched physically during the practice.
Defensive back Anthony Johnson stood out, recording a pick-6 against Mayfield. Johnson, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, had a career-high five interceptions last season, contributing to the Jaguars' impressive total of 31 takeaways, which ranked second in the league.
Offensively, head coach Liam Coen praised several players, including second-year running back Bhayshul Tuten, who is set to take on the lead back role this season. Coen expressed confidence in Tuten's abilities, highlighting his speed and potential impact on the team.
Rookie offensive lineman Emanuel Pregnon also received positive feedback from Coen, as he impressed during practice against the Buccaneers' defensive line. Pregnon may secure a starting position in the upcoming season due to injuries and changes within the offensive line.
