Brenton Strange has been identified as the starting tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they prepare for Week 1 of the NFL season, according to reports from John Oehser on the team's official site.
Strange signed a three-year contract extension with the Jaguars in June. Following the NFL's cut-down day, he is positioned to lead the tight end group, which includes rookie second-round pick Nate Boerkircher, rookie fifth-rounder Tanner Koziol, and fifth-year player Quintin Morris.
Given the current roster, Strange is expected to log the most offensive snaps among the tight ends, assuming he remains healthy. In the previous season, he recorded 46 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns on 60 targets over 12 games.
