The Miami Dolphins are facing a setback as defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, a first-round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, is set to miss time due to an injury sustained during training camp. Head coach Jeff Hafley confirmed that Grant will not participate in practices this week, although the specifics of his injury have not been disclosed.
Grant had a challenging rookie season, appearing in all 17 games and starting five. He recorded two sacks and 33 combined tackles, but his performance was rated below average by Pro Football Focus, which gave him an overall grade of 48.4.
Despite these struggles, Grant was recognized as a breakout candidate for the 2026 season by PFF, which noted his improvement over the course of his rookie year.
In his first five games, Grant earned a low PFF grade of 30.4, but he rebounded to achieve a grade of 62.0 from Week 6 onward, ranking third among rookie interior defensive linemen who played significant snaps. His performance included 16 defensive stops during that period, the second highest in his group.
Grant previously expressed his commitment to improving his game, stating, "This offseason, I just really focused on being more of a football player." He emphasized the difference between being in "football shape" versus "combine shape" and highlighted his focus on technique and strength training.
