Rays strike first
A two-run top of the first inning gave Nick Martinez more than enough support, as Tampa Bay beat Colorado 4-0 Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Coors Field. The Rays, batting as the away team, immediately put the Rockies in a deficit.
Mesa Jr. scored the first run when Aranda singled to left. Aranda then scored on Simpson’s single to left, with Caminero moving to second, and Tampa Bay led 2-0 before Colorado came to bat.
Caminero adds power
Tampa Bay extended the lead in the top of the third. Caminero homered to left, a 449-foot drive, to make it 3-0. It was the only home run of the game.
Tomoyuki Sugano took the loss for Colorado, falling to 11-5. He allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks over five innings, striking out three. Parker Mushinski pitched one inning with no hits, no runs, no walks and no strikeouts.
Juan Mejia worked one inning, allowing one earned run with one walk, no hits and no strikeouts. Zach Agnos pitched two innings with no hits or walks and struck out two.
