The Turning Point
The game’s decisive moment arrived in the seventh inning when Isiah Díaz delivered a grand slam to left-center field, measuring 384 feet. The blast erased a five-run deficit and shifted the momentum entirely toward Tampa Bay. Before the homer, the score stood at 5-1 in favor of the Rangers.
Díaz’s drive allowed Andrew Benintendi, Taylor Walls, and Josh Lowe to cross home plate, instantly tying the game at 5-5 and then putting the Rays ahead for good.
Early Offense and Middle Innings
Tampa Bay established an early lead through a series of solo home runs. Wander Franco opened the scoring in the second inning with a 419-foot shot to center field. The Rangers answered in the third when Nathaniel Lowe hit a 412-foot homer to right-center, tying the game at 1-1.
The Rays regained the lead in the fourth inning when Junior Caminero doubled to right field, driving in one run. The offensive explosion continued in the fifth inning for Tampa Bay. Following a ground-rule double by Lowe that scored Benintendi, Caminero doubled again to bring Lowe home.
A single by Franco was followed by an error on center fielder Carter’s part that allowed Caminero to score from first. Another run crossed the plate when Andrew Kittredge grounded into a double play, allowing Franco to score from second base.
Texas Rangers starter Kumar Rocker struggled significantly, giving up nine hits and five earned runs over five innings while striking out three batters. He was charged with the loss, dropping his record to 5-11.
