Later in the same frame, with runners on base, Mesa Jr. drew a walk from Blue Jays pitcher Jeff Hoffman, which allowed Mullins to score from second base. Mesa Jr. advanced to third base on the play.
The inning concluded when Williamson walked, scoring Walls from second base to extend the Rays' advantage to 4-1. This offensive outburst proved decisive, as the Blue Jays could only muster a single run in the seventh inning.
