Nick Mullens will serve as Trevor Lawrence’s backup for a second straight game after the Jacksonville Jaguars listed second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers among seven inactive players for their 2026 Week 2 matchup with the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High.
The Jaguars elevated Mullens, a 10th-year veteran, from the practice squad on Saturday. He also moved into the backup role for Jacksonville’s Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns, after serving as Lawrence’s backup in 2025. Jaguars.com reported the inactive list on Sept. 20, 2026.
Ewers was designated inactive 90 minutes before kickoff. The other Jacksonville players listed out of the game were rookie wide receiver C.J. Williams, rookie tight end Tanner Koziol, veteran offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, rookie defensive end Wesley Williams, veteran linebacker Jack Kiser and rookie safety Jalen Huskey.
