The Jacksonville Jaguars are facing significant injury challenges during their training camp, particularly affecting their offensive line. Rookie wide receiver Parker Washington, who has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury, is expected to return to practice next week, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Washington's absence will keep him out of the Jaguars' preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. However, his anticipated return is seen as a positive development for the team, which is dealing with injuries across various positions, especially at tackle and guard.
Despite the competition from other wide receivers like Brian Thomas Jr. and Jakobi Meyers, Washington has established himself as a key target for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Washington expressed confidence in the chemistry he has developed with Lawrence, stating that the trust between them has grown significantly.
With Washington back in the mix, the coaching staff will need to determine how to allocate practice reps among the wide receivers, which also include Travis Hunter. Reports indicate that Washington and Meyers have been receiving the most snaps during training camp, with Washington solidifying his role in the central slot position.
