St. Johns County School District announced the successful ratification of 2026-27 contracts for the St. Johns Education Association and the St. Johns Educational Support Professional Association, according to a Sept. 9 district news release. Public schools serving Nocatee operate under St. Johns County School District.

The district said the milestone reflects strong communication and a shared commitment demonstrated by both bargaining teams throughout the negotiation process. In its announcement, SJCSD said the SJEA agreement supports dedicated employees while reinforcing a collective focus on providing education and service to students, families and the community.

District negotiator’s statement

Paul Abbatinozzi, deputy superintendent and SJCSD chief negotiator, said in the release: “This agreement is the result of a collaborative process grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to our employees and students. We appreciate the professionalism demonstrated throughout negotiations and are proud of an agreement that supports our dedicated educators while maintaining our focus on student achievement.

As the District’s chief negotiator, I am especially grateful for the partnership and problem-solving approach displayed by both bargaining teams. Together, we continue to build a district where employees are valued and students thrive.”

Union negotiator’s statement

Jesse Biesiada, SJEA chief negotiator, said: “The ratification of the 2026-2027 agreement demonstrates what is possible when bargaining teams work together with a shared commitment to students, employees, and the community. While negotiations often involve differing perspectives, both teams remained focused on finding common ground and achieving an outcome that strengthens our schools and supports those who make student success possible every day.”

What the announcement covers

The Sept. 9 release presents the outcome as ratification of labor agreements for teachers represented by SJEA and educational support professionals represented by SJESPA for the 2026-27 school year. It emphasizes collaborative bargaining, mutual respect and a shared focus on students and employees.

The district announcement does not include salary percentages, dollar amounts or a line-by-line summary of contract articles. Those financial details are simply not part of the public notice SJCSD posted.

For Nocatee families, the local angle is that the county school district running area campuses has completed ratification of its 2026-27 agreements with the teacher and support-staff associations after what both sides described as a collaborative negotiation process. SJCSD thanked everyone involved for professionalism and partnership in reaching the outcome.

SJCSD said it extends appreciation to everyone involved for professionalism and partnership. The ratified SJEA and SJESPA agreements cover the 2026-27 school year for teachers and educational support professionals across the district, including campuses that serve Nocatee students.
