Nocatee, FL — Gov. Ron DeSantis named twelve new judges to circuit and county courts around the state on July 22, filling vacancies opened by retirements, resignations and elevations, according to The Florida Bar.
The appointments reach courts from the Panhandle to South Florida. Andrew King of Tallahassee will join the Second Judicial Circuit Court, and Lorelie Brannan of Macclenny takes a seat on the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court.
Several of the new judges will serve in the Miami area. Christopher Green and Alicia Priovolos were both named to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, while Gustavo Losa and Johanna Benedi will sit on the Miami-Dade County Court.
Others were chosen for benches in north and southwest Florida. Lua Joy Lepianka of Gainesville will serve on the Alachua County Court, and Autumn Gurrola and Jeffrey Martz were appointed to the 15th Judicial Circuit Court in the West Palm Beach area.
The appointees come from backgrounds that include work as prosecutors, private-practice attorneys and administrative law judges. Each fills a specific opening left by a judge who retired, resigned or moved to a higher court.
